This flying Hive Tyrant was built using mainly resin and plastic components. I wanted to use a crested FW head on the regular Tyrant and still give the whole beast a streamlined form. Quite a tall order when you consider how the head normally rests in the chest. For this reason the neck was dremeled out and the throat re-sculpted to move the head back. With Hive Fleet Ouroboros I did not want the Tyrants to resemble the stock model too much. As much as I love that particular sculpt they tend to look rather similar. That`s why I went for the aggressive Feeder Tentacled face you see here. To enhance the way in which those tentacles point towards the object of the Tyrant`s bad mood the beast also received flesh hooks under the lower arms. This results in a whole shower of yucky alien tentaclyness you wouldn`t want to see moving towards you. Additionally this underlines the dynamism of the model. With the weapon layout I cheated a little. I wanted the possibility to use the beast either as the close combat variant or as the one armed with two twin linked Devourers. That`s why I modelled both onto it. For the clawed feet I butchered a LOTR Fell Beast and the Devourers went into the wing tips (using the idea stolen from Hydra`s Devilfexes). Some egg-sacs to pump the munition from the body into the guns made their rate of fire a little more believable. Mmmhhhhh, a veritable hail of man-eating-maggots-from-outer-space.
